Biography
Williams Chechet is a visual artist born in Kano who studied Industrial Design at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. His latest project "We Are The North", is a series of beautiful illustrations from Northern Nigeria, influenced by pop art.
The series was recently shown at a number of exhibitions: First solo exhibition in collaboration with the Alliance Françoise, Lagos; MoCADA (Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art), Brooklyn New York; Marrakech Off The Tracks (1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair), Marrakech, Morrocco; Africa Is/In The Future, Brussels, Belgium. Williams has also created murals for Hard Rock Cafe, Lagos; MTV Base Africa.
