Biography

Born in Jerusalem in 1993 and based in Bethlehem, Yazan Abu Salameh is a Palestinian artist whose work explores memory, land, and the built environment. He studied Fine Arts at Dar Al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, graduating in 2011, and later took part in scenography workshops at Al-Quds College in Beit Jala.

Abu Salameh works with concrete, pebbles, and wire combined with Lego blocks and drawing. Living close to the separation wall and its checkpoints has shaped his visual language directly: his surfaces often read as miniature maps, layering childhood memory with the density of Palestinian neighborhoods seen from above. Smooth, colorful Lego pieces set against rough concrete hold together fragility and rigidity, dream and constraint. Recurring motifs, a circle marking a focal point, a horse, birds in flight, point to moments of possible release within otherwise closed compositions.

His solo exhibitions include Cemented Sky at Zawyeh Gallery's Alserkal Avenue space in Dubai (2021), the online exhibition Bending Towards the Sun (2022), and Fragile Nest at Zawyeh Gallery, Ramallah (2026).
