Jorge Corpuna

Peru • 1993

His works capture masterfully the atmosphere, light, space, and mood that engulf the landscape.

Biography

Peruvian painter from Cusco, recognized worldwide as a watercolor master. He studied fine arts at the “Carlos Baca Flor" School of the Arts in Arequipa and later in Lima. He loves to depict Andean landscapes: rivers, the countryside, skies, mountains. His works capture masterfully the atmosphere, light, space, and mood that engulf the landscape. While one could ascribe his works to realism, this would be a limited assessment, as the power of his gestures transmit ethereal luminosity and a profound sense of peace. He works at ease both in the study and plein air, and has traveled the world giving master classes, workshops, and demonstrations. His works invite us to stop, admire, and delight at every pictorial experience by his hand.
