Angel Otero

Angel Otero is a Puerto Rican artist, based in Chicago since 2004. He is known amongst contemporary abstract artists for his vibrant oil paintings, which are reminiscent of his Central American childhood and heritage. Otero's Oil Skin series, which he began in 2010, is a group of layered images which depict the transformative nature of his artistic process. The technique he employs results in a sense of visual distortion for which his work has been praised.

Otero's work has featured in numerous public and private collections across the world, including the Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Solomon R. Guggenheim in New York City, Istanbul Modern in Turkey and the Berezdivin Collection in his native Puerto Rico.
