Biography
Born in 1982, Nelson Makamo is a South African artist. Makamo studied printmaking at Artist Proof Studios in Johannesburg, however his multimedia works highlight his aptitude for drawing and painting. Seeking to portray a more positive depiction of Africa with his art, Makomo draws inspiration from children in rural South Africa and their innocence.
Makamo's work has been exhibited across Europe, the United States and has been collected by several notable celebrity figures including Giorgio Armani, Oprah Winfrey and Annie Lennox. In 2019, Makomo produced the cover for the February issue of Time magazineNationality
