

Biography
Considered by many the pioneer of South African photography, Jurgen Schadeberg was born in Germany but emigrated to South Africa as a young man. He is best known for his photos of black life under apartheid. Jurgen Schadeberg's works are part of the permanent collection of numerous museums including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, la Maison Européene de la Photographie, the Johannesburg Art Gallery, the South African National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, London and the Tate Gallery, London.
