In the artistic sphere, José Luis Pérez Ramos, better known as Bnomio, is a master of duality. From his pseudonym to his preference for black and white, Bnomio blurs the lines between opposites in his artwork. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic blend of influences, including traditional tattoo art, urban culture, American aesthetics, occultism, and secret societies, he crafts a unique artistic identity.
Bnomio approaches his work with a spirit of reinterpretation, deconstructing and rebuilding these diverse aesthetic influences through simple lines and geometries. This process of abstraction results in a minimalist and monochromatic style, characterized by distinct linecraft and an almost total absence of color. His reductionist approach retains only the essence of an image, giving his artwork a unique and easily recognizable aesthetic.
Through his manifesto "Tear Away the Mask," Bnomio engages in profound reflections on authenticity and social masking, particularly in the context of social media. The skull, a recurring image in his work, symbolizes the inherent equality of all humans, irrespective of their origins.
Trained at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades No. 2 in Madrid, Bnomio brings over 20 years of experience as an art director in various agencies and communication studios. As an artist, he has collaborated with renowned brands such as Levi's, Instagram, Adobe, Footlocker, Vans, and Citroën. His tattoo designs enjoy international demand, particularly in Mexico, where he has a fervent fan base. The breadth and depth of his work solidify Bnomio's position as a respected and provocative voice in the contemporary art world.
