Miguel Ángel Belinchón Bujes, known as Belin, is a Spanish contemporary artist, painter, muralist and major figure in the international street art. Born in 1979 in Linares, Andalusia (Spain), he discovers the world of graffiti at a very young age and makes his first interventions in public space during the 1990s. Entirely self-taught, he quickly develops an exceptional mastery of the aerosol spray can, before extending his practice to painting, drawing and mixed media techniques. His journey has led him from the walls of his hometown to the largest international urban art exhibitions, making him one of the most recognized Spanish artists of his generation.
Belin first established himself through a spectacular hyperrealistic style, characterized by remarkable technical precision and a virtuoso mastery of volumes, light and textures. Starting in 2015, he develops his own plastic language, Post Neo Cubism, in which he deconstructs faces and human figures by combining cubism, hyperrealism, geometric abstraction and contemporary expression. Inspired by Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Diego Velázquez as well as the tradition of classical portraiture, he creates compositions where planes fragment and recompose in a dynamic aesthetic that renews the codes of contemporary figuration.
Working mainly with aerosol spray, acrylic, oil, charcoal and mixed media techniques, Belin creates both monumental frescoes and canvas works. His portraits, often executed on a very large scale, explore the notions of identity, perception and transformation. His work combines an academic mastery of drawing with the energy of graffiti, creating a dialogue between art history and urban art practices. This ability to merge tradition and innovation has allowed him to become one of the main representatives of the new generation of international street art.
Belin's works have been presented in numerous personal and collective exhibitions in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Mexico, China, the United Arab Emirates and in many other countries. He has participated in international street art festivals and created monumental frescoes in several metropolises around the world. His work is today represented by international galleries and is featured in important private and public collections. Through a work where street art, graffiti, hyperrealism, Post Neo Cubism, contemporary portrait, monumental fresco, contemporary painting and urban art combine with a remarkable technical mastery, Belin establishes himself as one of the most influential artists on the international urban scene.
