Sabina Von Essen

Sabina von Essen is a Swedish contemporary artist born in 1995, recognized for a painting practice that combines abstract painting, contemporary landscape, emotion, and technical innovation. Born and raised in Sweden, she develops an intimate relationship with artistic creation very early on. After the death of her mother during her childhood, painting became for her a means to express her emotions and to transform her personal experience into visual language. Later, while pursuing engineering studies, art definitively established itself as her vocation, nurturing an approach where artistic sensitivity and technical reflection meet.

A trained engineer, Sabina von Essen claims the absence of an academic art curriculum as a real creative strength. She asserts that she builds her own plastic vocabulary outside of conventions, leaving ample space for experimentation and intuition. Her work explores the meeting point between art and technology, with the desire to propose a new way of looking at contemporary painting through digital and immersive approaches. This vision has led her to develop exhibitions accessible both physically and virtually, broadening her audience to an international audience.

Realized mainly in acrylic on canvas, her works are distinguished by multiple layers of material that create depth, light, and relief. Sabina von Essen frequently works with gold and silver pigments, bringing a singular luminosity to her compositions. By experimenting with textures, drying time, and superimpositions, she has developed a personal technique where certain parts of the painting acquire an almost sculptural dimension. Light is a fundamental element of her visual language, modifying the perception of the work according to the viewer's point of view. Between abstraction, landscape, organic elements, and evocations of nature, her paintings invite a contemplative experience where memory, imagination, and emotion constantly dialogue.

Since the sale of her first painting in Stockholm in 2018, Sabina von Essen has experienced rapid progress on the international contemporary art scene. Her exhibitions meet with great success among collectors, several presentations selling out upon opening. Today, she runs her own gallery in Stockholm, distributes her work to collectors from around the world, and continues to develop her artistic universe independently. Her work was notably presented at the Sabina Von Essen Interior Design Show organized by Art Concepts London (ACLDN) in London on September 29 and 30, 2019.
