Biography

THE ARTIST KNOWN AS...
Lhouette (born Ciarán Robinson) is one of the UK’s most influential urban pop artists, renowned for his bold, high-energy works that blend raw and refined materials. Since gaining widespread recognition in 2012, Lhouette has been represented by prestigious galleries across the UK, attracting a new wave of contemporary art collectors. His signature style, often described as 'Post Urban Glamour' and 'Pop Maximalism,' has led to a series of sold-out exhibitions, highly sought-after original collections, and exclusive limited editions.

ARTISTIC PROCESS & VISION
Lhouette's creative process begins with a singular theme, shape, or form and evolves into more dynamic compositions. He integrates various mixed medium techniques, from aerosol painting and heavy-body acrylics, collage to metallic gilding, resins, diamond dust, and stencil collage. His work juxtaposes pop culture references, materials, colour, retro branding, and modern digital symbols, reflecting and expressing his own relationship with pop culture and contemporary consumerism.

Over the past decade, Lhouette has cemented his place in the international art market, holding successful showcases in London, Hong Kong, San Francisco, and New York. His work continues to captivate art enthusiasts, collectors, investors, and cultural tastemakers worldwide.
EARLY LIFE & ARTISTIC JOURNEY
Born in 1985 in Luton, England, Lhouette showcased artistic talent during his early education but made an unconventional move at 17, enlisting in the Royal Navy. Over four years and 30 countries later, he returned home and established his first studio at the age of 21, soon adopting the moniker 'Lhouette.'

Immersing himself in East London’s vibrant urban art scene, he was deeply influenced by pop-up exhibitions, pop art movements, and the rich diversity of global consumer culture. Inspired by his travels, his work incorporates international design motifs, nostalgic 80s and 90s elements, and striking juxtapositions of vintage branding with modern digital iconography.

To enhance his studio practice, Lhouette completed a postgraduate diploma in Arts Management at Birkbeck University of London (2010-2012), securing placement based solely on his portfolio and artistic merit. After several years of representation by a leading UK fine art publishing house, he founded his independent contemporary art and print studio in 2017, assembling a team of artisans and designers to support his ambitious vision.
