David FeBland is a London born, internationally recognised self taught artist. He grew up in the countryside of Southern England, he then moved to Brooklyn, New York. His mother was a professional fine artist, at an early age he was exposed to contemporary painting and sculpture in the great museums. He received degrees from The University of Virginia, and The University of Manchester, UK. He pursued careers in Landscape Architecture and Communication Design as well as hosting jazz radio programs before turning his attention to painting in the mid-1980's. He spent 35 years traveling all around the globe, developing a conviction that despite the great differences between cultures, many human interactions are universal.

FeBland's work dives into the issues of privacy, conflict in dense environments, anxiety and its counterbalances as well as isolation in the contemporary urban life. Using his strong sense of formal compositional structure, he describes the interactions between man and his physical universe through a series of invented truths, a sleight of the facts as it were, inspired by observations of everyday life throughout the world. He believes that unlike most traditional forms of art, the creation of his art is instinctive, rather than a choice. He's often said that “ Art finds you, rather than the inverse “. The reason why he choses to use the traditional media of oil paint is because he finds it flexible, versatile, responsive and challenging to master. His work is driven by contemporary narrative ideas, and as such does not depend upon the newness of its medium to communicate with its audience.

FeBland has been exhibited at many art fairs worldwide and his work is present in many galleries from Los Angeles, New York to London, Frankfurt and Berlin. He has participated in over 70 solo and group shows and has been reviewed or featured in Art in America, The New York Times, American Artist Magazine, The Spectator (UK), and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Germany).  His work is held in many corporate collections including American Express, AT&T, Chase Bank, Citibank, IBM, Esprit, Exxon-Mobil, Wassall USA, Inc. and Roland-Berger, GMBH, and he is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York.
