Vilena Bozhenko

Vilena Bozhenko (b. 1987, Izyum, Ukraine) is a contemporary artist. Her work has been presented in exhibitions including Longing for Tuscany at the Exhibition Hall of the Moscow Union of Artists (2024), Marinus at MichaelsGalleryArt in St. Petersburg (2024), Unique Russia at Gostiny Dvor in Moscow (2025), and Summer Continues at Krasnye Gorki Art Museum in Sochi (2026).

Vilena Bozhenko began studying painting and drawing with private instructors after moving to Moscow in 2014, gradually developing a practice centered on abstract landscape. She works primarily in oil, occasionally incorporating acrylic and textile.

Rather than depicting specific places, Vilena paints landscapes as they are experienced and remembered. Nature becomes a starting point for exploring inner balance, presence, and the emotional relationship between people and their surroundings. Changing seasons, light, air, and the movement of natural elements are translated into unconventional color relationships, fluid forms, and layered textures.

Her paintings move between recognizable landscape and abstraction, allowing atmosphere to take precedence over description. Through color and material, Vilena Bozhenko seeks to make invisible states perceptible—the energy of nature, a shift in mood, or the feeling of being immersed in a landscape. Her work creates spaces for slowing down, contemplation, and renewed attention to the natural world.
