Biography

Lori Field is an American painter, born in 1955.

Lori Field is primarily self–taught, having had less than a year’s formal training at SUNY Purchase. She began her artistic life as an illustrator and textile designer.

A little over ten years ago, a series of life-altering events caused her to rethink the direction her creativity was taking. She began new work, which is today seen as her beginning in the world of Beaux-Arts.

Most of the time, Lori Field creates precise and colored drawings, in an obsessive manner. These drawings are then cut, sewn and become part of her polished painting (pigmented wax and resin).

Lori Field also does very complex black and white drawings, precise on Gesso paper, in which we find the same type of symbolic patterns as in colored works.
