Description
Miloslava Svobodová Wyckmans (* 27.8.1936 Jičín,+ 8.2.2005 Mechelen) 1951 - 1955 Secondary Vocational School of Jewelry, Turnov 1955 - 1961 VŠUP Prague Miloslava Svobodová-Wyckmans graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts jewelry school in Turnov in northern Bohemia and subsequently (in 1955 –1961) studied at the University of Applied Arts in Prague with a professor Karel Štipl and docent Václav Plátek. After completing her studies, she was appointed the head designer of the glass foundry Skrdlovice in Moravia. In 1966, she undertook a long study trip, during which she visited Belgium and the Netherlands, which completely changed her life. She met hers while visiting glassworks in Val-Saint-Lambert and Leerdam, future husband Jan Wyckmans. Miloslava Svobodová did return to Czechoslovakia, but after a short time she got married and left to be with her husband in Belgium.Date: 1965 Material: Metallurgical glass, emerald green core covered with dark glaze with a touch of glass crumb Dimensions: Height 43.5 cm Manufacturer: Sklárna Škrdlovice (Headquarters of Artistic Crafts) Model number / pattern: 6533 Material and technique: Metallurgical shaped glass with a decor of molten glass crumb and krösul. Description: Massive, exceptionally tall, hand-shaped vase made of green metallurgical glass. The lower and middle parts of the body are asymmetrically covered with a thick layer of molten glass shards and clear drops (krösul), which create a distinctly plastic, organic surface characteristic of the famous “Galaxy” series. The author of the 1965 design is the leading Czech glass artist Miloslava Svobodová (later Svobodová-Wyckmans). The offered piece stands out with its rare height of 39 cm, which greatly exceeds the commonly available dimensions of this model. It is a very attractive and sought-after collector's and investment item of Czechoslovak post-war design. The vase is in very good condition on his age,
