Description
This refined glass vessel exemplifies the mastery of mid-century Czech design. Created in 1958, the artwork showcases a sophisticated interplay of light and form. Its silhouette is striking. The piece rises from a narrow base into a sweeping, organic volume before tapering toward the rim. A luminous violet hue permeates the material. This translucent quality emphasizes the sculptural purity of the object.
The surface reveals a delicate, etched motif. A minimalist nude figure emerges subtly from the glass. This ethereal presence blends seamlessly with the surrounding transparency. The lines are fluid and precise. They reflect a deep understanding of anatomical grace and spatial harmony.
The designer combined technical precision with an artistic sensibility. This piece bridges the gap between functional tableware and pure sculpture. It represents a pivotal era of experimentation in glass art. Every curve is intentional. The light catches the edges of the violet glass, creating a dynamic visual experience. The composition remains timeless through its restraint and elegance. The subtle engraving adds a layer of intimacy to the polished surface. The vase is in excellent condition on his age.
Presentation
Miloslav Klinger (1922-1977)
In the years 1936-1940 he graduated from the Secondary Vocational School of Glass in Železný Brod under the guidance of prof Jaroslav Brychta and master Jan Stuchlík.
After two years of experience in the Josef Kleinert glassworks, he continued his studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the studio of Karel Štipl from 1942. In 1944, he interrupted his studies and began creating sculptures from leaded metallurgical glass, again at Kleinert's company. He finished his studies only in 1948. He returned to Železný Brod as a designer of glassware and sculptures, where he worked with breaks until 1982. He collaborated with Josef Cvrček on some designs. He worked for three years as the director of the Secondary Glass School in Železný Brod. He returned to Železný Brod even after he moved to Prague.
He has exhibited exhibitions all over the world with his graphic works; promoted synthetic materials, mechanical and industrial work techniques. He was, among other things, the creator of stamp technology (so-called stamp art, originally children's and school rubber stamps).
He has suffered from Parkinson's disease since the 1980s, which gradually eliminated him from his career. [1]
He was also active as an art theorist, esthetician and publicist. He lectured at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he was appointed associate professor in 1986
