Cry on the Soul, 2024

Minako Asakura

Acrylic on paper with wood panel.

This artwork presents a mesmerizing blend of abstract and figurative elements, creating a vivid and otherworldly ambiance. Dominated by vibrant purples and pinks, the piece captures an ethereal landscape where nature and fantasy intertwine. A striking element is the trio of spectral wolves situated in the foreground, their forms ethereal and almost translucent, seemingly embarking on a nocturnal journey. Above them, a draped, textured canopy of swirling violets and blues suggests a rock formation or cavern entrance, adding depth and mystery. The contrast in colors is stark yet harmonious, with the vivid flora-like shapes in the corners balancing the composition's dynamism. The luminous background of pastel yellows and blues further heightens the dream-like quality, evoking a sense of dawn breaking or magical illumination. The interplay of color and form in this piece is remarkable, with the abstract elements conveying both movement and stillness. The wolves, central figures in this composition, symbolize unity and the elusive spirit of the wild. This work's unique ability to convey both tranquility and intensity makes it a captivating visual experience.
