Description
This artwork fascinatingly merges vibrant figures with an abstract backdrop. A dynamic group of individuals on the left, rendered in lively hues of pink, purple, and yellow, appears to be in animated conversation, embodying a sense of movement and life. Their energetic forms contrast sharply with the solitary figure on the right, seated in contemplation. Clad in blue with distinct western boots and hat, this figure introduces a narrative of introspection amidst vibrancy. The background, a bold swath of green, serves as a dramatic partition, enhancing the composition's spatial tension. This juxtaposition of activity and stillness invites viewers to explore themes of community and solitude, while the artist's deft use of color and line imbues the scene with both energy and serenity. The incomplete lines and fluid forms suggest a fleeting moment captured, emphasizing the transitory nature of human interaction.
Presentation
Sa Hara is a Korean artist born in 1975 who lives and works in Seoul, South Korea. She is graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration at Dongguk University. Through Physical Theatre, the artist explores how characters reflect one another, expressing freedom and imagination through bodily performance. With a keen interest in the movement of the human body, observations are transformed into unique works that convey the unrestricted freedom of the mind. Each work contains a narrative, featuring characters and networks of relationships. These relationships are not confined by social or legal structures but instead reflect a worldview of relative freedom. Using the non-verbal language of bodily movement, the characters perform as if on stage, reflecting each other, becoming aspects of one another, and giving rise to thoughts and actions, thus existing through each other and forming the whole. The artist draws inspiration from human movement, real-life stories of relationships, fictional novels, and videos on Instagram and YouTube. Plants, books, music, dance, and various forms of art also provide intellectual stimuli, which are combined with imagination to create the works.
