Description
The technique of drawing and erasing transports us to a dreamlike universe where the boundaries between reality and illusion blur. This art prompts reflection on perception and reality.
Magalie Darsouze uses her pencil to draw moments of life from personal or borrowed photographic sources.
In this imaginary album, historical events, everyday scenes, family portraits, moments of conviviality and reminiscences of deceased beings form a collective memory where the indelible, the ephemeral and oblivion manifest themselves through distortion, overexposure and erasure.
From these different storylines, the viewer draws on their own memories, picked from different time periods, lived or recounted, fictional or real.
By blending the universal and the intimate, Magalie Darsouze manages to reactivate the past while leaving us the freedom to question our place in relation to these projected images.
Magalie Darsouze studied visual arts at the Michel Montaigne University of Bordeaux.
His works have been disseminated in Nouvelle Aquitaine and throughout France as part of residencies, collective creations and solo exhibitions.
