Description
The drawing "Chiveloutch 2023" is the fourth drawing in the series of "Volcanic Eruptions". It is a volcano located in the Kamchatka region, a peninsula at the end of the world, in the far East of Russia. An extremely violent eruption led to a magnitude 7 earthquake (threatening a military base) and a tsunami alert. The source image used by Rebecca Brueder is the one considered the most beautiful photograph taken of the eruption, which has been widely distributed in the media and on social networks. The creation of Chiveloutch 2023 required more than 200 hours of work.
Presentation
A graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts des Pyrénées, Rebecca Brueder lives and works in Marseille. In 2019, she received the French Cultural Center Prize in Freiburg-am-Bresgau (D.) and in 2020 she was a recipient of the Post-Production program at the Occitanie / Montpellier Regional Contemporary Art Fund.
She is represented by the Galerie Robet Dantec, Nantes.
