Description
Pencil, marker & watercolor on paper
With passepartout, 30 x 40 x 2 cm
Lasha Tchrelashvili explores the boundaries of the subconscious through a vibrant interplay of form and color. This 2024 artwork merges delicate pencil lines with fluid watercolor washes. The composition centers on a fragmented figure. It suggests a state of transcendence. Organic shapes overlap in a rhythmic dance of transparency. Red accents slash across the canvas like sudden emotional impulses. Soft blues and golds provide a serene counterbalance.
The artist treats the act of painting as a rigorous thinking process. Every stroke captures a moment of spiritual observation. The figures drift between the familiar and the unknown. This liminal space invites the viewer into a deep internal dialogue. Fine stippling and precise hatching add textural depth to the ethereal atmosphere. The vision remains fluid and open. It reflects a search for one's position within the vastness of the universe. A sense of weightlessness pervades the scene. The gaze is obscured by layers of chromatic energy. The piece concludes in a harmony of gesture and light.

Painting process is a kind of a thinking process to me.
Sometimes you get distracted, other times you're fully invested. It's a dynamic process both emotionally and conceptually. My paintings are products of this thinking process which I then observe. Through these observations I analyze my internal, spiritual state and my position in relation to the universe.
My intention is not to contain the dialogue within my own world, therefore I open up the conversation with a question. I title my paintings as a question in order to spark the desire for exploration within the viewers themselves.
The main accent of my paintings is a state of transcendence. In this state of liminality the relationship between familiar and unfamiliar takes you through a mysterious experience.
