No Sense Clic, 2018

Christophe Stouvenel

Technique: Mixed media, collage and ink on 300 grs grain paper Signed by the artist, with his certificate Cut out vignettes, stick stickers and drop ink stains ... This is how Christophe Stouvenel says "Kiki" his No Sense series. Of surrealist and Dada inspiration, everything starts from the idea of assembling on grain paper, like a child but with the rigor of an adult, elements as disparate as scraps of old paper or scores, amusement park tickets, old labels, photo negatives, etc., without any direct connection between them. To these chosen, cut, glued, organized elements, the artist “collagist” for the occasion, randomly adds stains of India ink and colored stickers. With this choice of expression format for his “No Sense” (which he structures all in the same way, under the same type of frame in matt black, and without ever giving them a name), “Kiki” thus makes tribute to old papers, these old newspapers or books dating from the years 1900-1930 as well as those from the 80s, periods from which he draws inexhaustible inspiration. This series therefore exists only by the fact that it has no specific meaning, that it is not limited in any way.
