Description

A look at my contemporaries during the unsettling period of lockdown. Behind the masks, only their eyes betrayed emotions, fragile and sincere. I wanted to capture these rare moments of freedom, these suspended moments.

This captivating work presents a black and white portrait of a woman of a certain age, merging tradition and modernity. She wears a richly patterned headscarf, intricately patterned, covering her face like a mask, creating a visual tension between her expressive eyes and the elegant fabric. Her dark, geometrically patterned jacket contrasts with the blurred background, focusing attention on her direct and confident gaze. The texture of the headscarf adds an artistic dimension, offering a fascinating juxtaposition between the wrinkles of her face and the curves of the fabric, symbolizing the rich complexity of identity in a changing world. The composition skillfully balances emotion and aesthetics, paying homage to individuality and adaptability. This powerful image speaks volumes, captivating in its simplicity and depth, while evoking personal and cultural narratives.

Presentation

Vincent Pancol discovered photography in 1988.

He made his debut in 1992 by collaborating with various press titles including Madame Figaro.

But it is also interested in the corporate world through agencies such as Les Récréatives, By The Way, l'Agence, Publicorp, Citizen Press.

He, who admits to "always enjoying slipping an intimate look" into his work, is enriched by numerous journeys, especially to the Middle East and more particularly to Egypt, which he has been "exploring" since 1990.

This long-term project was presented at the Biarritz photo festival, at the Arles off-festival, exhibited at the Romainville town hall, and at the Chroniques Nomades, under the artistic direction of Mr. Claude GEISS.
