Description
This artwork captivates with its fluid abstraction, dominated by rich cobalt and cerulean blues that ebb and flow like oceanic tides. The composition is anchored by deep, earthy browns and grays, creating a striking contrast against the luminous whites that cascade across the canvas. A mesmerizing interplay of colors and textures evokes the raw beauty of natural landscapes, while ethereal, marbled patterns suggest the eroding forces of wind and water. The monochrome background amplifies the dramatic swirls and delicate veins, drawing the viewer into a contemplative exploration of movement and stillness. This piece captures the essence of transformation, with its organic forms and dynamic energy, offering a visual symphony that is both powerful and serene. A masterpiece of color dynamics and abstract beauty, it invites ongoing reflection and discovery.
Presentation
Living in rural Kent, Megan is inspired by seasonal changes and the alterations in light, colour and texture of the local landscape. The scenery and atmosphere of Dungeness and the surrounding area also influence her work.
As well as changing environments and weather, she also reference smaller shapes and forms within the landscape. Wet beach pebbles, winter leafless branches, animal tracks, hedgerows and long evening shadows.
Sea and landscapes are the main narrative, although the paintings often describe atmosphere rather than being literal representations. Megan roughly plans the work but generally paints intuitively, making spontaneous decisions and problem solving as a painting develops. Many layers, some translucent, create depth of colour.
