Description
This artwork is an ethereal exploration of fluidity and depth, masterfully utilizing shades of blue and white. The composition appears to stretch into an abyss, drawing the viewer's eye toward a central light source. The interplay between the dark, rich hues of navy and the lighter, almost translucent areas creates a mesmerizing depth, evoking the feeling of gazing into a mystical ocean or an expansive sky. Subtle gradients and organic shapes blend seamlessly, giving the piece a natural flow and tranquility. The artist skillfully balances contrast and harmony, allowing the viewer to experience both serenity and intrigue. This abstract work captivates with its ability to evoke emotion and imagination, providing a timeless and immersive visual journey.
Presentation
Living in rural Kent, Megan is inspired by seasonal changes and the alterations in light, colour and texture of the local landscape. The scenery and atmosphere of Dungeness and the surrounding area also influence her work.
As well as changing environments and weather, she also reference smaller shapes and forms within the landscape. Wet beach pebbles, winter leafless branches, animal tracks, hedgerows and long evening shadows.
Sea and landscapes are the main narrative, although the paintings often describe atmosphere rather than being literal representations. Megan roughly plans the work but generally paints intuitively, making spontaneous decisions and problem solving as a painting develops. Many layers, some translucent, create depth of colour.
