The oil painting on cardboard titled "City on the Water" invites viewers into a dreamlike urban landscape, where the architecture, light, and water flow together in a seamless, almost poetic harmony. With broad, confident brushstrokes and a palette rich in warm and cool tones, the artist captures the essence of a city built along canals, echoing the spirit of Venice while keeping the scene intentionally imaginative and fluid. The first element that captivates the viewer is the vibrant sky, a rich cyan expanse that deepens toward the top and lightens as it approaches the horizon. Dappled with gentle strokes of white and grey, the sky hosts a scattering of white birds gliding effortlessly through the air. These birds, painted with quick, elegant flicks of the brush, add movement and life, breaking the stillness of the vertical buildings and reflecting the openness above the narrow canal. The canal itself, occupying the lower half of the composition, reflects the surrounding structures with shimmering depth. The water, painted in deep blues with touches of orange and brown, mirrors the warm light that bathes the city. Zhitomir artist Suprunchuk Yuri Sergeevich Born on April 11, 1961, in the city of Zhitomir. Graduated from the Zheleznogorsk Art School, Russia (1982). Teachers in the specialty: V. Chukuev, E. Nikulin. Painter. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2002). Major works: "Near the house" (2005), "Winter on the outskirts of Zhitomir" (2006), "Autumn still life" (2004). Lived and worked in the city of Zhitomir.
