Description
Abstraction is expressed here by a play of curves and spirals. The pictorial gesture seems guided by a search for fluidity. Shades of deep blue intertwine with shades of gray and white. Organic movement dominates the composition.
The influence of martial arts and Tai Chi is felt in the precision of the line. The brush draws rotations that defy gravity. The material stretches into sinuous curves. Touches of yellow and red discreetly punctuate the surface.
This mixed media painting combines transparency and density. Light circulates between the layers of colors. Space becomes a place of pulsation and breath. The canvas suggests a natural renewal.
The work dates from 2023. It presents a balance between graphic force and chromatic softness. The light background accentuates the depth of the blue lines.
Presentation
Childhood in Bratislava, Slovakia (Czechoslovakia at the time) contact with modern art and Slovak and foreign artists.
In 1968 abrupt and involuntary transfer to Vienna, Austria, following the crushing of the Prague Spring and the occupation of the country by the Warsaw Pact troops.
Transfer to Paris in the 1970s
Plastic arts studies, St. Charles faculty, Paris 1979 - 1980
Art therapy training with A. Denner 1982 - 1986
The practice of Kinomichi, Aikido, Tai-chi also influences my bodily experience, the relationship to space and the graphic and pictorial gesture in the 80s. The impetus, the spiral, are accentuated in my work organically and becomes an almost constant.
