Description
This artwork is a captivating execution of contemporary abstract art, where bold colors and fluid motion create a mesmerizing visual experience. The centerpiece is a dynamic spiral, rendered in vibrant hues of turquoise, royal blue, and pure white, set against a deep black background. The spiral draws the viewer's eye inward, creating a sense of movement and depth that is both calming and invigorating. The artist's use of color is particularly striking. The turquoise and blue tones convey a sense of tranquility and endlessness, while the white adds a touch of clarity and brightness, ensuring the spiral stands out in stark contrast against the dark backdrop. This play of light and dark, softness and intensity, masterfully showcases the artist's command over color theory and composition. The brushstrokes are deliberate and confident, each turn of the spiral meticulously crafted to maintain a seamless flow. The texture is smooth, evoking a sense of fluidity that enhances the hypnotic quality of the piece. The outer edges of the spiral are slightly blurred, suggesting a gentle movement that invites the viewer to ponder its endless nature. This piece is not just a visual delight, but an exploration of themes such as infinity, balance, and the cycles of nature. It is a testament to the artist's ability to blend simplicity with profound depth, creating an artwork that is both accessible and richly layered with meaning. In this mesmerizing spiral, viewers are invited to lose themselves in the interplay of color and form, finding their own interpretations in its graceful swirls.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
