Description
Andrew Carnegie built Carnegie Hall in 1891 for the Oratorio Society of New York and the New York Symphony Society.
Architect William Burnet Tuthill was commissioned to do the project. The hall's acoustics came out of outstanding quality, but the appearance was new compared to those seen in Europe. The audience wanted a chandelier in the main auditorium to make the atmosphere more romantic.
My work refers to this aspect. Carnegie Hall Tower was built in 1991, bringing the theater to the overall look of the 60-story skyscraper.
