Description
Geo Mommaerts was a Belgian artist born in 1923 in Diegem and died in 2006 in Brussels. He was a painter and draftsman. Training at the Brussels Academy (1939 – 1946). Realization of urban, marine and interior landscapes, among others; Sometimes combined oil and pastel. Poetic color palette, intimate accents. His works representing old bourgeois houses in Brussels, Paris or Amsterdam exude the nostalgia and melancholy of a past that never recurred. First prize for Young Art in Brussels in 1946, Foire Godecharle in 1947, prize from the Belgian Company of Marine Painters in 1952, Triennial Painting Prize from the Commune of Ixelles in 1967, Lebon Prize in Auderghem in 1973, Baron Steen Prize in 1980. Work to be done in the museums of Ixelles, La Louvière, Ostend and in the Print Room in Brussels.

Geo Mommaerts était un artiste belge né en 1923 à Diegem et décédé en 2006 à Bruxelles. Il était peintre et dessinateur. Formation à l’Académie de Bruxelles (1939 – 1946). Réalisation de paysages urbains, marins et intérieurs, entre autres; Parfois combiné huile et pastel. Palette de couleurs poétiques, accents intimes. Ses œuvres représentant de vieilles maisons bourgeoises à Bruxelles, Paris ou Amsterdam respirent la nostalgie et la mélancolie d’un passé jamais récurrent. Premier prix Art Jeune à Bruxelles en 1946, Foire Godecharle en 1947, prix de la Compagnie Belge des Peintres de la Marine en 1952, Prix Triennal de Peinture de la Commune d’Ixelles en 1967, Prix Lebon à Auderghem en 1973, Prix Baron Steen en 1980. Travail à faire dans les musée Ixelles, La Louvière, Ostende et dans la Print Room à Bruxelles
