Description
Taking a moment to notice the people around you can make a difference in your day. It takes your eyes off your circumstances to look and wonder about the stories and lives of those around you. It's a treat to even make eye contact and have that moment of vulnerability before moving on. The painting is in oil on paper, painted with blurred brushstrokes to emphasize the passing moment.
Presentation
Artist Statement:
My stolen glances of cafe' corners and crowded crosswalks give us cause to linger in the lives of others. The experience is heightened by the layering of oil paint, glazes and paper. On the surface, colors and shapes interact, but the people those forms suggest do not. They connect to us by not connecting.
