Description
acrylic painting on framed wooden panel. In this painting I wanted to create a field of colour built up in layers of contrasting tones, creating an optical rhythm across the visual field of the work. The painting explores ideas of permutation and sequence and the relationship between individual elements. The work is created through a long process of repainting and layering to achieve the right balance of colour and flow across the painting. Ready to Hang: Yes. Signature Location: back of panel.
Presentation
I was born in Suffolk, England in 1981, In 2012 I received a degree in fine art from the Colchester School of Art.
I am particularly influenced by early 20th century abstraction, and the idea of the painted surface as a field of sensations and rhythms which bypass representational conventions and touch directly on the nervous system.
I tend to work intuitively and spontaneously without a clear idea of where each piece will end, preferring to let the process of creation itself direct the finished form of the work.
