Diamond bridge, 2024

Ana Maria Kis

This artwork is a vibrant representation of an idyllic landscape, captured with a dynamic mosaic technique. Dominating the scene is an arched stone bridge, carefully constructed from a collage of geometric fragments. These fragments evoke a sense of structure and solidity, while simultaneously offering a playful, textural quality. The bridge is the focal point, symbolizing a harmonious connection between the two lush hillsides. The surrounding landscape is alive with a rich tapestry of colors, primarily green, brown, and blue triangles, creating a sense of movement and life. The foliage of the hills is depicted with an intricate patchwork of vivid greens and earthy browns, each piece reflecting the light in a unique way, suggesting the play of sunlight through leaves. Above, the sky bursts with radiance as the sun rises or sets—its golden rays transformed into shards of yellow, creating an impression of warmth and energy. The transition from light to deeper blues as the sky extends upwards suggests either dawn or dusk, capturing a fleeting yet profound moment in time. The river that flows beneath the bridge is a serene blue, its surface depicted with angular shapes that mirror the sky’s hues. This choice of style emphasizes the continuity between the elements of nature. The artist masterfully combines realism with abstraction, drawing viewers into a scene that is both recognizable and strikingly original. Overall, this artwork transcends simple representation, inviting the viewer to engage with its playful complexity and explore the harmonious interplay of color, light, and form.
