Description

The artwork presented is an exquisite example of minimalistic and contemporary aesthetics, characterized by its serene color palette and geometric ingenuity. The composition is a delicate blend of pastel hues, transitioning smoothly from gentle pinks to soft blues, evocative of a tranquil twilight or dawn seascape. The subtle gradation of colors perfectly captures the ephemeral beauty of sky and sea merging at the horizon, invoking a sense of calm and introspection. One of the unique aspects of this piece is its distinct shape, where the canvas is not a traditional rectangle or square, but rather an irregular, trapezoidal form. This geometric deviation immediately draws attention and challenges the conventional boundaries of artwork presentation, adding a layer of complexity and modernity. The choice of shape not only enhances the visual appeal but also suggests a break from traditional norms, encouraging viewers to explore beyond conventional perspectives. Additionally, the artist's use of minimal elements—such as a few barely-there clouds and a serene, unbroken horizon line—demonstrates a mastery of simplicity. This restraint in detail forces viewers to focus on the subtle shifts in color and form, engaging their senses in a more profound and contemplative manner. In conclusion, this artwork stands out for its serene beauty, minimalistic charm, and innovative use of shape, making it a captivating piece that invites viewers to experience tranquility and introspection through its delicate hues and non-traditional canvas form.

Presentation

Emmanuel Régent develops a work that is composed as well with classical techniques as with cutting-edge technological protocols. Known for his drawings, deliberately incomplete and always made with black and fine felt, the artist also develops a sculptural and pictorial practice. His canvases, titled Nebulae, are made up of different layers of monochrome paintings that he sanded down in places to reveal the hidden colors. He multiplies the possibilities of a variable geometry production around the readily opposed concepts of absence, erasure, proliferation and recovery. Emmanuel Régent's work plays on discretion and effacement and invariably prefers little to excess. This bias allows him to create a discreet art that fits the world without excess. Emmanuel Régent thus proposes "gaps" to be completed by looking: for him it is a question of "building open spaces of projections, spaces of assumptions, wanderings, dispersions ...", of imposing interstices, rhythms like pauses against shortness of breath 7.
