Cadences II, Circa 1988

Lison Favarger

This captivating work of art is distinguished by its symphony of shades of blue, arranged in concentric circles that overlap harmoniously. Each circle seems to be a profound exploration of movement and repetition, creating a hypnotizing effect that immediately draws the viewer's eye. The painter has used a subtle yet rich palette, incorporating blues ranging from the palest to the darkest, which gives each circle a unique depth and dynamism. The variations in hues and tones are mastered with a precision that demonstrates great technical finesse. The circles almost seem to come to life, evoking waves, whirlpools or galaxies, inciting contemplation and reverie. The spatial arrangement of the work adds an additional dimension. The circles, while distinct, interpenetrate and connect, creating a fluid and continuous network. This interconnection perhaps symbolizes the imperceptible yet omnipresent links that unite the elements of the universe, suggesting a meditation on unity and infinity. The lines and shapes, while similar, are never identical, each circle carrying its own singular character. This repetition with variation evokes a visual melody, where each note – or each circle – contributes to the overall harmony while possessing its own individuality. The work is, without a doubt, a powerful visual statement of the beauty of rhythm and color. It clearly demonstrates the artist's skill in merging technique and emotion to produce a piece that resonates both intellectually and aesthetically. It is a masterful work that invites total immersion, engaging the viewer in an endless visual dance.
