Description
For forty years, Pierre Marie Brisson has painted nature and life in their most beautiful manifestations. In his paintings the artist sings the praises of life; the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by land, the sea of gods and heroes, is for him an archetype and a dedication to Ulysses, eternal nomad in search of truth and answers to eternal questions about the mysteries of the universe. His canvases, plastered with layers of wallpaper, crumpled and compacted, are all spaces where the colors of the South triumph, which are those of life, from cobalt blue and aquamarine to blood red. Without major changes, these colors are presented as existing in nature by generating the flora, fauna and characters in Brisson's paintings.
Schooners heralding happiness, countless butterflies which become, according to Greek myths, the souls of simple mortals, goldfish, biblical symbol of abundance and eternal silhouettes of Arcadians populating this poetic land where the life is made of happiness, carefreeness and harmony, inaccessible, between man and nature.
