Mara Rossoni

Mara Rossoni
Italian painter, born in Rome in 1968. With a background in the humanities, she trained from 2008 to 2019 at the studios of Sigfrido Oliva and Umberto Pozzi, where she developed a strong interest in modern and contemporary art, with particular attention to the artistic avant-garde movements.

Her work gives voice to an inner dimension through the expressive tension created by the interplay of mark-making and color. Since 2019, she has worked independently, focusing on textured, material-based painting. In 2021, she discovered encaustic painting, which has since become her primary medium.

Her practice is characterized by continuous experimentation and the fusion of diverse materials—including virgin beeswax, damar resin, pigments, oil, shellac, graphite, and rust—resulting in works composed of marks, traces, reliefs, and subtle chromatic variations. For Rossoni, painting is a language through which she expresses a deeply guarded, protected, and inviolable core of her being.
