Description
This artwork, striking in its bold simplicity, is composed primarily of broad vertical bands of color, creating an impression of dynamic harmony and visual intensity.
The dominant hues are black and a vibrant yellow, with subtle variations of these colours adding depth and character to the painting. The strategically placed bands of yellow are energetic and immediately captivate the eye, contrasting powerfully with the darker bands of black, marking an irresistible visual balance.
The rough, thick texture of the brushstrokes, visible across the entire surface, demonstrates a vigorous and expressive technique that adds a tactile dimension to the work.
The paint appears to have been applied impulsively, almost violently, suggesting an intense and energetic creative process. This method of layering colors and applying paint gives the work a three-dimensional depth, bringing out the vitality and passion behind each brushstroke.
Presentation
Born in Marseille in 1982, Mr. Garcia grew up in the heart of the Phocaean city, bathed in the light of the South and the diversity of its cultural influences. Of Spanish and Italian descent, he draws from these two heritages a deep admiration for the great masters of European painting, whose spirit still runs through his work today.
He first picked up his paintbrushes in 2019. From this impulse was born an immediate, almost instinctive passion—a form of creative therapy that allowed him to escape from melancholy and bring to life an intimate and vibrant universe.
Mr. Garcia works the material with intensity, mixing plaster and paint, which he shapes with a knife. This sculptural gesture gives his works a unique relief and depth. Layer after layer, the composition is built, the textures become denser, and the colors are revealed: sometimes soft and nostalgic, sometimes vibrant and powerful.
Through his paintings, the artist gives free rein to his imagination. He deposits his raw emotions, his dreams and his heartfelt impulses, inviting everyone to dive into a world that is both dreamlike and introspective.
