Description
Jackie and Jimmy are both tall and skinny twins with large bulging eyes so alike that not even their mother could tell which was which, apart from Jimmy having a big spot on his nose. Jackie and Jimmy were the ship's lookouts and worked with Tony on repairs. Both kept an eye on the weather, looking out for storms. Christmas is coming, and this is an opportunity to own one of my characters from Egg Island. Also, with the paintings, I will send a signed copy of my book Egg Island. Egg Island is full of characters and strange things, but do not be alarmed because it’s normal here. Apart from the Egg people, dolphins sleep at the bottom of the sea, including a giant one as big as a ship and one even bigger. Baboons who think they own the place; firebugs as big as coconuts who light up the village; giant turtles who protect the kids when swimming; coconut crabs, bright orange with cat-like habits who like their belly scratched; little bees with big eyes always sharing honey and mushrooms that produce eggs and of course Captain Thomas and his shipwrecked crew.
Presentation
Ta Byrne is a Thai artist who lives and works on the beautiful island of Koh Samui,
just off the south coast of Thailand. Her Oil Paintings?. are vibrant, eye-catching and packed with a sense of fun and humour. Ta takes humans as her focal point in her Figurative Painting but abstracts these figures by distorting them and using a cartoonish style to create a more humorous feel. While her work is mostly
representational, she incorporates Surrealist elements in many of her paintings, making her one of the most exciting artists working in Thailand today.
Ta Byrne's Artistic journey
Ta comes from humble beginnings, living out her childhood on the rural outskirts of
Bangkok as a farmer's daughter. During her teen years, she worked sewing shirts in a Bangkok sweatshop, and it was during this time that she met an old street artist who invited her to his studio. This sparked her desire to become an artist, and since then, she has gone on to produce Abstract and Cubist paintings that have received international acclaim from art connoisseurs.
Collections and exhibitions
Ta's Painting feature in private collections across over 63 countries, ranging from
Australia to Spain, and from Hong Kong to Malibu Beach. She has had a solo
exhibition at the Peter Dougie Art Gallery in Koh Samui, and the Six Senses hotel Koh Samui has graced the walls of The Apple Gallery in Bath and the Masa-UK Art Gallery in Manchester in the UK.
Exhibitions:
Verious publications including Blanc a New York arts & fashion magazine. Koktail magazine
2022 Six Senses Hotel Koh Samui
2019 Renaissance Hotel
2019 Peter Dougal Art Gallery Koh Samui
2018 The Apple Gallery Guild Hall, Bath, UK
2016 Tatiana Tan Art Gallery Kanda Residences Luxury Villas, Koh Samui
Artistic Influences:
My inspiration comes from my imagination along with; Claude Monet for his use of colour, his expressiveness, detail and the softness of his beautiful paintings. Vincent van Gogh for his bold use of colour his expressiveness, and I like to think I'm a little impulsive like him, and Lowry for his simple but very sophisticated work.
