is a striking monochromatic painting that captures the essence of timeless elegance. Rendered in oil on canvas and viewed through the artist’s lens - precision-cut vinyl reverse applied to shadowbox glass - the piece channels the sophistication of mid-century fashion photography, inspired by icons such as Richard Avedon and Horst P. Horst.Â
The central figure, though entirely invented, embodies the poise and glamour of the era, draped in a sumptuous evening gown with voluminous, flowing shapes. The meticulously rendered fabric highlights attention to detail, while the contrast-heavy palette enhances the sense of movement and fluidity.
The painting’s title pays homage to Dick Avery, the fictional fashion photographer portrayed by Fred Astaire in the 1957 film , whose character was inspired by Avedon, while subtly referencing the classic portrait by John Singer Sargent. This blend of cinematic, photographic, and painterly influences creates a refined narrative celebrating elegance across eras.
Exhibited and sold at ArtMuc Art Fair, Munich (2025), continues an ongoing exploration of vintage aesthetics, where high fashion and fine art converge through the process.

Collector’s Guide
Jeremy Bianco's paintings evoke the elegance and allure of mid-20th-century aesthetics through a contemporary lens. Drawing inspiration from Golden Age cinema, fashion magazines, and mid-century advertising, his work reinterprets nostalgia with a modern sensibility.
Building upon earlier figurative studies, Bianco has developed the VetroScope technique—a fusion of traditional oil painting with precision-cut vinyl overlays applied to glass within a shadowbox frame. This method introduces depth and a dynamic interplay of light and perspective, creating artworks that engage viewers from multiple angles.
Originally from Australia and now based in Italy, Bianco's practice bridges classical influences with modern techniques, inviting viewers to explore the subtleties of image, identity, perception, and to see elegance anew.
