Description
AAA3802
This oil painting cardboard, titled "The road to the river", the composition is well-balanced, guiding the viewer's eye along a natural path that leads towards the river in the background. The foreground is dominated by lush greenery and wildflowers, painted in thick, textured strokes, creating a sense of movement and depth. The terrain slopes gently downward, drawing attention toward the shimmering blue water beyond. On the left, a dark hillside rises, contrasting with the brightness of the open landscape. To the right, trees and bushes frame the scene, their deep green tones adding structure and harmony to the composition. The river, stretching across the middle ground, reflects the soft hues of the sky, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Distant hills and landmasses on the horizon enhance the depth of the painting, making the viewer feel as if they are gazing upon an endless, untouched landscape. The artist employs a rich and varied palette, blending warm and cool tones to create a vibrant yet harmonious scene. The foreground bursts with shades of green, yellow, and earthy brown, while strokes of magenta and pink suggest wildflowers or sunlit vegetation, adding a dynamic and unexpected contrast. These colors bring warmth and life to the composition, evoking the essence of a bright summer day. The river is depicted in soft blues and purples, reflecting the hues of the sky and adding a cooling contrast to the surrounding land. The sky, painted with subtle gradations of blue, pink, and white, suggests a clear and tranquil day, possibly in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is most delicate. The interaction of light and shadow is expertly rendered. The sunlit areas glow with golden warmth, while shadows cast by trees and hills add depth and variety to the scene. The reflections in the river contribute to the overall sense of realism, despite the painting's impressionistic approach. The river and sky, in contrast, are painted with smoother, more blended strokes, creating a sense of calm and stillness. The difference in texture between land and water adds depth and contrast, making the painting feel more immersive and dynamic. The painting also captures the essence of untouched nature, where wild grasses, flowers, and trees grow freely, and the river flows undisturbed. This unspoiled landscape invites the viewer to step away from the rush of daily life and embrace the simplicity and stillness of the countryside.
Presentation
Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
