Carnival Tudor Girl, 2025

Ruslana Levandovska

This vibrant artwork captures a bold fusion of classical elegance and modern expressionism. At its core, a poised woman in a striking red bodice commands attention, her confident stance accentuated by a delicately textured white and blue scarf. Her gaze is steady, exuding poise and strength. Surrounding her are swirling gold and deep blue patterns reminiscent of Klimt's ornamental style, infused with a multitude of concentric circles that evoke a sense of motion and dynamism. They are created with gold paint that shimmers in the light depending on where you look at it from, changing and feeling as if alive. These swirling motifs contrast sharply with the figure's serenity, creating a riveting tension between stillness and activity. Her attire, a fusion of history and fantasy, embodies the dance between tradition and personal rebellion. In a world that increasingly feels like a circus, this painting celebrates individuality—reminding us that we can still be ourselves and lead the carnival. This piece masterfully blends classical portraiture with abstract elements, offering viewers a rich tapestry of color, texture, and emotion.
