Born in 1968, Sandrine Hirson lives and works in Saint-Quentin, in Hauts-de-France. She has been painting with oil since the mid-1990s and develops a lyrical abstraction centered on color, light, and the horizon line.

Her work is built in series, among which are "Éclat", "Harmonie", "Respire", "Les couleurs qui rêvent", and "Infiniment bleu". Each canvas is unique, but they all explore the same idea. A series begins when a single work is not enough to explore the subject.

She works according to two registers that she never mixes. In the flat, with a minimalist writing, free color spaces overlap and draw a horizon line, the idea of a landscape. In the blend, a color glides into another without border: the gaze gets lost there without a fixed point, carried by the vibration of the color.

Sandrine Hirson paints with oil on canvas, with a palette knife. Each stroke leaves its mark in the material, and the light catches the reliefs of the surface.

From one series to another, her approach adheres to the same idea: to make visible what is not seen, but is felt.

Since her first solo exhibition, "Atlantide", in 2001, her work has been shown in France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark, notably with Carré d'Artistes. Her works are in private collections in Europe, the United States, and Japan. She is represented by Akoun and also creates commissioned works.
