Description
This artwork is a bold representation of contrast and balance. A background divided into two equal halves, one white and one black, highlights a dynamic visual tension. The central shape, an inverted red triangle, evokes an exclamation point, a symbol of surprise or urgency. Below, a pale gray circle, partially superimposed on the two-tone divider, adds a dimension of depth and completeness. The vibrant red of the triangle calls out to the viewer, creating a dialogue between the elements. The geometric simplicity of the composition reinforces its visual impact and interpretive potential, playing with the notions of duality and perception. This work is distinguished by its effective minimalism, while also exuding a sense of movement and latent tension, thus captivating the viewer's attention.
Presentation
Born in 1950 in Vendée in France, Joël Chasseriau is a self-taught visual artist, graphic designer, engraver and master art printer living in Paris.
A graphic designer for over twenty-five years, Joël Chasseriau was inspired by contemporary art when he visited the great studios of today's visual artists. Delving into the worlds of Robert Combas, Erro, Peter Klasen and Bernard Pras gave rise to the desire in him to participate in this creative effervescence and to launch himself into visual art.
Geometry and instinct. The artist instinctively begins his canvases with a first colored surface, this determining the next, and so on until the artist is completely satisfied. His work with the material and his singular aesthetic sometimes recalls the Bauhaus graphics that inspired him at the beginning. However, the painter absolutely does not seek to represent: he does not represent, he creates.
A recognized artistHis work in geometric abstraction has earned Joël Chasseriau numerous solo exhibitions in Europe, notably in France, Germany, Estonia, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark, but also in Israel.
