Description
A geometric composition comes to life on a pure white background. The eye is immediately drawn to a saturated yellow block that grounds the base of the composition.
The center is agitated. Rectangles and squares pile up with precision. Shades of sky blue, red, and gray intertwine in a controlled balance.
The artist plays with superposition. Fine and repetitive lines cross the space, creating a dynamic visual rhythm.
This approach recalls the graphic rigor of the Bauhaus. Each shape responds to the previous one. The gesture is instinctive, guided by the search for a pure visual harmony.
The absence of figurative subject matter leaves place to an exploration of colors and planes. Depth is born from the contrast between opaque surfaces and plays of transparency.
This 2026 creation uses an ink printing technique. The rendering is sharp. The contours are crisp. The whole forms an architectural structure suspended above a yellow horizon.
Presentation
Born in 1950 in Vendée in France, Joël Chasseriau is a self-taught visual artist, graphic designer, engraver and master art printer living in Paris.
A graphic designer for over twenty-five years, Joël Chasseriau was inspired by contemporary art when he visited the great studios of today's visual artists. Delving into the worlds of Robert Combas, Erro, Peter Klasen and Bernard Pras gave rise to the desire in him to participate in this creative effervescence and to launch himself into visual art.
Geometry and instinct. The artist instinctively begins his canvases with a first colored surface, this determining the next, and so on until the artist is completely satisfied. His work with the material and his singular aesthetic sometimes recalls the Bauhaus graphics that inspired him at the beginning. However, the painter absolutely does not seek to represent: he does not represent, he creates.
A recognized artistHis work in geometric abstraction has earned Joël Chasseriau numerous solo exhibitions in Europe, notably in France, Germany, Estonia, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark, but also in Israel.
