Description
Work created by SEE for the exhibition Les Bleus de St-Laz (April 24 to 27, 2025, Espace Thorigny, 75003 Paris).
This work is a unique reproduction of a graffiti made on this mythical model of Saint Lazare (the photo of the original graffiti is delivered with the work). The resin plates, entirely handcrafted in an artisanal manner, represent an exact reproduction at scale 1 of the original SNCF Z6400 model from a cast of the original train. Each plate has a height of approximately 118cm and a width of approximately 58cm, is made with acrylic resin applied in 3 fibered layers for optimal resistance.
This resolutely modern work is structured around two juxtaposed panels, animated by imposing geometric forms. Their rigid, angular lines are accentuated by an electric color palette, mixing purple, black, yellow, and blue tones. The juxtaposition of shades creates a powerful visual dynamic, evoking contemporary urbanism. The circular motifs in the background add depth and subtle movement to the composition, contrasting with the rectilinear forms. Thin black lines highlight the contours, providing a clear delineation that accentuates the graphic character of the work. The metallic hues at the bottom boldly merge with the rest, creating an intriguing visual homogeneity. The whole provides a vibrant and urban aesthetic, reflecting the vitality and energy of a modern metropolis. This duality between structural rigidity and chromatic fluidity makes it a captivating and singularly expressive piece.
Presentation
It is at the end of 1980s that SEE HG MPV begins to paint in the Parisian Metros. This was a time when he had trouble with the police because of vandalism issues, but also a period during which he had the opportunity to learn and practice a lot, tagging and making graffiti.
In 2009 SEE HG MPV decided to work on a new support: canvas.
He had two solo exhibitions and took part in collective shows such as "Nomad Utopia" at the Carrousel du Louvre.
In 2013, he makes some reappearances in his original environment, "just for the fun of painting" and of finding an atmosphere that he loves so much.
