Description
This captivating artwork features a grid-like composition where horizontal and vertical lines precisely overlap, creating a hypnotic pattern of green and blue hues. The dynamism of the whole is accentuated by the bold insertion of a resplendent central gemstone, which instantly catches the eye. This central element appears to distort and lightly drape the lines around it, creating an intriguing illusion of movement and depth. The harmony of colors and rigorous geometry demonstrate impressive technical mastery, evoking feelings of serenity and balance. The work's originality lies in its ability to blend minimalism and complexity, thus offering a meditative visual experience.
Presentation
He graduated from the Cristobal Rojas School in 1972 and later became assistant for 7 years of famous artists like Carlos Cruz-Diez and Jésus-Rafael Soto.
Milton Becerra turned towards research work in several currents of the 20th Century, ranging from Kinetic Art to Op Art. He was still a student when he presented his first personal exhibition in 1973, and received a prize.
Very attached to his Venezuelan culture, Milton Becerra has managed to combine traditional primitive Venezuelan culture with contemporary artistic tendencies. He develops geometric shapes through thoughts and theories from Kasimir Malévich.
Milton Becerra is considered as one of the pioneering artists of the Land Art movement in the 70's, a movement which uses natural elements and makes the spectator react due to the artist's intervention.
