Description
This artwork showcases a vivid landscape scene dominated by a richly textured tree in the foreground, standing against an electrifying sky of vibrant pinks, oranges, and yellows. The artist masterfully employs bold brushstrokes to capture the tree's intricate branches and the undulating terrain beneath. The sky, painted in striking, fiery hues, contrasts sharply with the deep greens and browns of the land, drawing the eye across the entire composition. The reflection on the distant water body adds depth, suggesting a tranquil yet dynamic setting. Unique to this piece is the interplay between the intense coloration of the sky and the earthy foreground, creating a resonant harmony that evokes a sense of vitality and movement. The work invites viewers to experience the majesty of nature with its dramatic color palette and dynamic form.
Presentation
Eileen Murray maintains a full time art practice in a studio in Lethbridge AB. She received a BFA with great distinction from the University of Lethbridge and holds an MFA in painting and photography from the University of Saskatchewan.
Moving from a farm on the flat prairies of south eastern Alberta to the Coules of Lethbridge, Eileen has expanded her long-time investigation into the 'home' to include the landscape in which one knows and loves. This move and the proximity to the mountains in which she grew up in has affected her color palette and linework in the most unexpected ways, and she is excited for landscape to begin seeing into her formal inquiry of 'home' while maintaining a curiosity of what makes a house a home, still life and the qualities of the baroque including nostalgia, bravado and theatricality.
