The oil painting on cardboard titled "Small Yacht Club" immerses the viewer in a peaceful waterfront scene, where nature and quiet human activity coexist in perfect balance. The artist skillfully captures the mood of a late summer or early autumn day with expressive brushstrokes, a rich palette, and atmospheric lighting that bathes the scene in soft, warm tones. There's a sense of stillness, as though time has slowed to accommodate the tranquility of this secluded harbor. Dominating the left side of the painting is a modest wooden boathouse with a sloping red roof, weathered by the sun and rain, yet still full of charm and character. Its vivid red tones contrast strikingly with the deep greens and browns of the surrounding trees. The small structure suggests a humble gathering place, perhaps a storage hut or a casual meeting point for local sailors and fishermen. Clothes or towels are seen hanging by the entrance, adding a touch of daily life to the otherwise serene landscape. In the background, a row of yachts and small boats is gently moored along a wooden dock that stretches out from the shoreline. These vessels are rendered with delicate strokes of white, pink, and beige, accented by hints of bright color—green, yellow, blue—that suggest sails, tarps, or flags. The boats vary in size and shape, hinting at both leisure and functionality. Their calm, reflective presence in the water speaks to a slower pace of life, where time is measured in tides rather than clocks. The surrounding forest, painted in dark, saturated greens, forms a protective backdrop. The trees lean inward slightly, as though shielding the club and its dock from the outside world. Brushstrokes are applied loosely, creating a dreamlike impression of foliage rustling in the breeze. Despite the absence of visible human figures, the presence of boats, the boathouse, and the dock implies quiet human activity—people at rest, preparing for a sail, or perhaps enjoying a drink inside the little building. The water occupies the lower half of the composition, painted in deep shades of blue, green, and hints of brown, reflecting the trees, the boats, and the sky. Occasional glimmers of turquoise and aqua on the surface suggest movement—perhaps ripples from a breeze or the gentle rocking of the anchored boats. In the foreground, a single seagull glides low across the water, adding life and grace to the composition.
