Description

The oil painting on Cardboard titled "Silence among the Snow and Trees" captures the serene, almost mystical stillness of a winter evening, where the chill of the air meets the warm, inviting glow of a distant, snow-covered cottage. The scene is enveloped in a deep, vibrant blue, creating a striking contrast with the warm, fiery hues of the setting sun that reflect off the snowy landscape and the bare branches of nearby trees. The central focus of the painting is a modest wooden house, its roof heavy with freshly fallen snow, nestled in the middle of a wide, open field. Soft, pastel shades of lavender and pink spread across the snow, echoing the fading light of day and the gentle shadows cast by the bare trees. The thick, expressive brushstrokes capture the texture of the snow, creating a sense of depth and movement as the light dances across the uneven ground. To the left, a towering tree, its branches ablaze with the last rays of sunlight, stands like a silent sentinel, its fiery colors contrasting sharply against the cool tones of the surrounding snow. The artist has masterfully captured the way light filters through the branches, creating a sense of warmth even in the heart of winter. The sky above is a deep, cobalt blue, transitioning into soft purples and hints of warm orange near the horizon, where the sun's last rays cling to the edge of the world. This intense color gradient creates a dramatic backdrop for the scene, adding to the sense of peaceful isolation and quiet contemplation. The distant mountains, only faintly visible through the haze of snow and fading light, add a sense of scale and vastness to the composition, reinforcing the isolation of the small house nestled among the snow-covered fields. The painting's composition draws the viewer's eye toward the house, inviting them to imagine the warmth within its walls, a stark contrast to the biting cold of the winter air outside. The use of thick, textured brushstrokes gives the piece a sense of immediacy and raw energy, capturing the fleeting beauty of a winter sunset as it reflects off the snow and casts long, purple shadows across the landscape. The artist's choice of bold, contrasting colors – the fiery reds and oranges of the tree against the deep blues and purples of the snow – creates a powerful visual impact, emphasizing the quiet, yet vibrant, beauty of the natural world.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
