Description
SERB 1224
The Oil painting on Canvas titled “Green Leaves of Spring" invites the viewer into a lush, serene world where the season of renewal and growth is celebrated through vivid brushstrokes and harmonious tones. The scene unfolds in a rural setting, where the freshness of springtime is captured in its purest form, with an overabundance of greenery that dominates the composition. The artist uses thick, textured strokes of oil paint, creating an impasto surface that enhances the vibrancy of the natural world, allowing each leaf, branch, and blade of grass to pulse with life and energy. At the heart of the painting lies a small rustic structure, partially hidden by the embrace of towering trees. The humble wooden shed, with its muted browns and grays, provides a gentle counterpoint to the riot of greens surrounding it. Its weathered simplicity suggests a place of quiet refuge, perhaps an old outbuilding or a modest cabin, softened by time and nature. Its unassuming presence anchors the composition, offering a sense of human connection within the overwhelming abundance of natural growth. The trees, rising majestically toward the sky, dominate the vertical rhythm of the painting. Their trunks, painted with deep browns and tinges of violet, stretch upward, while the foliage above bursts in a symphony of greens, ranging from deep emerald and olive to bright lime and tender yellow-greens. This layering of hues captures the diverse shades of spring leaves under the shifting light, as sunlight filters gently through the canopy, creating a dance of shadow and illumination. The impasto application makes the leaves appear almost tangible, as if they could rustle with the lightest breeze. The foreground is defined by a winding path, painted with soft purples, pinks, and earthy greens, guiding the eye into the depth of the painting and toward the hidden building. This pathway, slightly uneven and overgrown in places, suggests a human presence yet also emphasizes the dominance of nature. It seems to beckon the viewer forward, inviting them to walk under the shade of the trees and experience the quietude of the spring landscape firsthand. The play of light across the path adds warmth, suggesting a time of day when the sun is neither too harsh nor too faint, but perfectly balanced to highlight the beauty of renewal.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
